The Land Development Project Manager is responsible to manage development applications at various stages of the land development process.

Job Type | Full Time

  • Aid in the development and evaluation of land-use plans on the premise of municipal policies, development constraints, land-use efficiency, home building offering, servicing costs and development approval concerns to achieve highest and best use and facilitate decision-making.
  • Manage the design, submission and approval of development applications (i.e. CDP, OPA, zoning amendments, minor variances, plans of subdivision and site plan control).
  • Establish and track development project budgets and schedules
  • Retain and manage multi-disciplinary consultants
  • Undertake due diligence to support land acquisitions
  • Liaise with project stakeholders (i.e. City staff, City councillors, government agencies, developers and public)
  • Monitor and report on industry issues, municipal planning initiatives, regulatory agency policies, City committee decisions and community association activities.
  • Ensure all project files are up-to-date and circulated to all relevant internal departments
  • Any other duties as required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of project management experience in the construction, planning and land development field
  • Post-secondary Certificate or Degree in Civil Engineering, or Urban Planning or other formal technical training that is relevant to the field
  • Knowledge of the City of Ottawa Official Plan, Zoning By-laws, development processes and policies
  • Knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal legislations, policies, practices and initiatives related to planning, municipal design and the environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet firm deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Strong verbal, written and presentation/communication skills.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
  • Ability to communicate quickly and concisely in a verbal and written format.
