1983

Starting Out

Richcraft’s humble beginnings began in the basement of Kris and Manju Singhal’s home with the purchase of two lots backing onto the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. The year was 1983 and the Singhal’s began their trial by fire in the building business, emerging by the end of the first decade building 300 homes each year and operating from a 40,000 sq. ft. head office.

1990

The Decade of Extraordinary Land Acquisitions

As one of the largest land deals in Ottawa-Carleton’s history, Richcraft acquired approximately 2,400 acres of unserviced land in Gloucester, officially known as the region’s South Urban Community. The land stretched into Gloucester and Nepean, straddling both sides of the Rideau River.

2000

Reaching New Heights!

In 2005, Richcraft entered the high-rise market with The Galleria Phase One consisting of 148 units in a 12-storey condo building. The next ten years saw considerable growth in this sector, including The Bowery, 248 units in an 18-storey condo (2015) and The Charlotte, 197 units in a 14-storey building (2019).

2010

Giving Back to the Community

Richcraft has always been about giving back to the communities in which they build. In 2013, they built the Kanata Recreation Complex, a high-quality recreation/aquatic/fitness facility and community centre. They broke ground on the Richcraft Sensplex in Ottawa East the following year. In 2016 Richcraft donated to Carleton University for major improvements to the former River Building, now called Richcraft Hall. In 2022 Richcraft completed the Richcraft Hope Residence - a 42-unit supportive housing building constructed for Shepherds of Good Hope.

Giving back is how Richcraft expresses gratitude to the communities they’ve built and the great city of Ottawa.

2023

A Bright New Future

In a maverick move, Richcraft has moved into the luxury high-rise rental sector with their new brand The Collective. The Collective combines amazing suite designs, great locations, and upscale finishes that create a curated rental experience that surpasses all expectations.

The first two properties in The Collective are Parkdale Collective and Centrepointe Collective – both west end properties that are slated to open in 2024.
