Building on the past
The Ottawa Citizen, May 21, 2005 Karen Turner
For more than two decades, Richcraft has been building walkup
condominiums with one objective: to give buyers an affordable housing
option.
But a lot has changed to the design and style of the builder’s
terrace homes since the first project was launched off Hunt Club Road in the
late 1980s.
“The designs have really evolved,” says Richcraft’s Shawn
Bellman who describes the changes over the years as a means of keeping prices
down and offering a more affordable product to young professionals and
first-time buyers looking to own their own home.
Gone are the single
garages of earlier versions, which drove up construction costs and narrowed the
price gap between the stacked condos and starter townhouses.
